Mesotherapy: Procedure, Side Effects, and More

Mesotherapy, performed by a skilled master, can help in almost all complex cosmetic situations: from treating problem skin to burning fat in certain places.

Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive aesthetic treatment that delivers carefully selected active ingredients into the superficial layers of the skin through a series of small injections. Depending on the formulation and treatment area, it may be used to improve hydration, skin texture, dullness, fine lines, scalp condition, and other cosmetic concerns.

In Korea, mesotherapy is often incorporated into personalized skin rejuvenation programs and may be combined with other dermatological treatments when appropriate.

Why Is Mesotherapy Effective?

Mesotherapy works by delivering small amounts of selected ingredients directly into the targeted area rather than simply applying them to the surface of the skin.

The exact formulation varies depending on the patient’s skin condition and treatment goals. A dermatologist may select preparations containing hyaluronic acid, amino acids, vitamins, peptides, antioxidants, or other approved ingredients.

Mesotherapy may be considered for several purposes:

  • Improving skin hydration and overall skin quality

  • Supporting smoother, brighter-looking skin

  • Improving the appearance of fine lines and uneven texture

  • Targeting specific areas of the face, neck, décolletage, or scalp

  • Supporting scalp and hair-care programs when medically appropriate

Results depend on the product used, injection technique, treatment area, and individual response. For this reason, consultation with an experienced medical professional is important before treatment.

Mesotherapy is not a single standardized treatment. The ingredients, injection depth, technique, and expected results can differ considerably depending on the patient’s concerns and the protocol selected by the doctor.

Innovations in Cosmetology

Modern mesotherapy has developed far beyond traditional vitamin injections. Korean aesthetic clinics now have access to a wide range of injectable formulations designed for different skin concerns.

Some treatments focus primarily on hydration, while others are selected to support collagen production, improve skin texture, or address dull and tired-looking skin.

Mesotherapy can also be incorporated into combination treatment plans.

  • Hydrating formulations may be used for dry or dehydrated skin.

  • Skin-rejuvenating formulations may be selected for fine lines, uneven texture, or loss of radiance.

  • Mesotherapy may sometimes be combined with laser treatments, radiofrequency, skin boosters, or other procedures when clinically appropriate.

The objective is not simply to inject a mixture of ingredients. A well-designed treatment plan should consider skin condition, age, treatment history, sensitivity, and the patient’s desired result.

Hair Mesotherapy: Started to Grow

Mesotherapy can also be used as part of a scalp-care or hair-loss treatment program.

Small injections are placed into selected areas of the scalp. Depending on the patient’s condition and the protocol used by the clinic, the injected formulation may contain ingredients intended to support scalp condition and hair follicles.

However, hair loss has many possible causes, including genetics, hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, stress, medications, and underlying medical conditions.

For this reason, mesotherapy should not automatically be considered a solution for every type of hair loss. A proper assessment can help determine whether scalp mesotherapy is appropriate or whether another treatment would be more suitable.

Some patients undergo a series of sessions rather than a single treatment. The number and frequency of treatments depend on the diagnosis, formulation used, and individual response.

Mesotherapy generally involves little downtime, but temporary reactions around the injection sites are possible.

Common short-term effects may include redness, mild swelling, tenderness, small bumps, bruising, or itching. These reactions usually improve as the skin recovers.

Less common complications can include prolonged inflammation, infection, allergic reactions, pigmentation changes, or other reactions to injected ingredients. Choosing a qualified medical clinic and ensuring that appropriate products are used helps reduce avoidable risks.

Immediately after treatment, the skin may be more sensitive than usual. Patients are commonly advised to avoid saunas, steam rooms, very hot baths, and intense exercise for a short period after injections.

Excessive heat and sweating may increase temporary redness, swelling, or irritation. Follow the specific aftercare instructions provided by your clinic, as recommendations may differ depending on the product and treatment area.

Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen and limit unnecessary direct sun exposure while the skin is recovering. This is especially important for patients who are prone to post-inflammatory pigmentation.

To an English person, it will seem like simplified English. Their separate existence is a myth. The new common language will be more simple and regular than the existing European languages. It will be as simple as Occidental; in fact, it will be Occidental. To an English person, it will seem like simplified English, as a skeptical Cambridge friend of mine told me what Occidental is. The European languages are members of the same family.

Most patients can return to normal daily activities relatively quickly after mesotherapy, although small injection marks, redness, swelling, or bruising may remain temporarily visible.

The ideal treatment schedule varies from patient to patient. Some people may benefit from a series of sessions followed by occasional maintenance treatments, while others may be better candidates for different procedures altogether.
